Hi Joshua,
Have a peek at the photo I'm sending, and let me know if this sharpening technique appeals to you or not. If it does, feel free to e-mail me at smiki@shaw.ca for details on how to do it. The technique is a bit long-winded, because it's a sharpening technique that's great if you want some more intense sharpening to a particular object in your photo, but there are other areas you may not want sharpened at all.
Scott.

I was hoping to do something like that!!! But i have no idea how to do it! Unsharp Mask has too many options!
Daniel-Do you mind if i send you a very large file and help me touch it up? Like the TIFF file?
Or if someone could guide me along using PS Elements would be pretty fine.

I hope you don't mind but I borrowed your photo too see if I could help. I was able to sharpen it a great deal without too much loss of quality except for where the green and the pink hues combine around the edges of the leaf. I don't have PS elements just the old photo deluxe program. Try using the UNSHARP MASK option, it will allow a greater amount of control over how much sharpening is achieved. Hope this helps.

Answer to yr question regarding my miniature flower; It was taken in very bright sunlight, no flash or reflector was used. The problem is overexposure. Using good software, like Capture One RAW DSLR, or PS for JPEG/TIFF you can reduce the overexposure. Not changing or correcting colors, just reduce exposure. I order to photograph outside in bright sunlight without fear for overexposure you can use a white umbrella over the flower/your camera. You still have good light but indirect.

Joshua, I like the composition, but yes you are correct the flower is a little blurry. I would take it into photoshop and make a selection around the flower as tight as you can and then either use the unsharp mask in Photoshop or my favorite plugin Nik Sharpener, it's much more intuitive than photoshops sharpening tools. Then I might even inverse that selection and add a slight gaussian blur to the background just to give it even more depth of field. Just my 2 cents keep up the good work.
