Hi Peta;.... seems I missed this one, but it's excellent!... the costume, brooke's expression and pose, the darkish exposure, and the background are great. You are really becoming incredibly creative with this photography stuff. Nice work, and cheers. Craig

You and your daughters seem to enjoy a lot to try new outfits, Peta. And we like them all. I always find amazing the way you work with your backgrounds. They macht perfectly the subject. This is rare. Plus, your pictures have that sometinh extra: idea! Excellent once again, dear friend. Hugs and love, Marília

One of my favourite movies ever. It's amazing to see how perfectly mother and daughter can work together and achieve great results over and over again on a variety of projects. I have seen your daughter in many of your photos. The remarcably different ways she posed as a model on your last two submission is stunning. Very beautiful and stylish in this shot, which mustn't have been easy in this almost acrobatic act! End result? ----> simply SUPERB!!! Congratulations to you both, Peta.

I did not see the movie, only some trailer in italian television, but I do not think that the scenes are so good, your daughter is very eclectic and you are very good to create beautiful images. Bye Max

Thanks for your nice comments everyone. :)
Stefan I hadn't seen your comment but I was coming back with a touch up as I saw I'd not cleaned around her boot of the foot she is standing on,and needed to fix her coat in a few places. She is actually balanced on one leg on the very narrow back edge of my sunken bathtub, the only place with a plain wall and good lighting at night. So it truly was a balancing act.
Thanks again Ursula, that's a great help!

I like it too - especially impressed with the outfit. My primary nit is that the pose looks a bit static, as if she is balancing on her right leg as you are taking (your time to shoot) the picture... The texture bleeding through on her cape might be something to fix as well. It is a good gritty feel of what looks like a really grungy cement wall in the background.

Peta, Being a huge Matrix freak, it gave me added incentive to check this out. I like this very much, I really like the wall, has a great look about it. Great tones and texture. Now Trinity here is looking good too! The shades look super authentic! Nice level kick, right in Mr Smith's mid section. Great image Peta, Congrats to both of you!

Hi, Peta, so now it's Matrix, eh? I haven't seen the movies, but from what I know about it, her glasses, outfit, and posture are very Matrix like. The background, on the other hand, though very beautiful, does not look all that Matrix like to me. Neat picture though. It's wonderful your daughter cooperates with you :))
About using the 5050 in auto or manual, I usually use it in aperture priority and set it to f8. Then, if the shutter speed goes below 100 (sometimes below 60) I change the f stop to a lower setting. There are times when I set it to a lower f number to get a smaller dof. Sometimes, for letting in more, or less, light I use the fully manual function, but not often. At night I usually use the night preset (works well for me). I hardly ever use the auto feature, but when I used it I haven't had the problem of too dark with auto.
I am wondering about your metering in auto, the 5050 can meter in three different ways: spot, eof, or multi. Spot measures light coming in through the middle section of the picture (between the brackets). EOF (I think that's what it's called) is the default and gets a sort of average exposure over the whole picture. With multi you can measure light at up to 8 spots (I think it's 8) and then the camera will try to come up with a sort of best exposure. Multi works well for slow work or strange light situations. EOF is the default. But my own favourite for everyday use is Spot metering. With spot I can meter whatever area I want to have correctly exposed (even if it is not the middle of the picture), then set that metering as the default exposure for the picture (touch one button), then refocus and click. Goes real fast once you get used to it. And, if the area you want to use for correct exposure happens to be in the middle of the picture (which it often does), you don't have to even preset the exposure, just point and shoot. Does this make sense to you?
My family and I (except for the two oldest children) are in the middle of moving from Ontario to British Columbia, so I don't have much time for either picture taking or commenting in the next few weeks - moving is soooo much fun (yeah, sure ... ). I am quite sad about leaving two of the children behind, even though they really are adults anymore (19 and 22). Anyway, take care,
Ursula

Hi Peta!! Your girls should be on the stage! You all are so creative. It's nice to see you all working together on your photos. I like The look of this one...cement wall in background adds strength to the Matrix look. Well done. Happy Thanksgiving. I finally heard from Richard.
