Personnaly I think this is your best one. The picture is very personal whit the girl, I also got the feeling it's all about her; not her hat or clothes just her.
The attitude, color, tones and DOF are excellent! It's simple and great; simply wonderfull :)
Greets Tim.

Thank you for your comments on my pictures! You were already on my friends list, your pictures are great. Especially this one, "innocence". The soft toning, contrast and depth is perfect!

Fantastic work,Mark....you are one of the few photographers that I have encountered here so far who understands that portraits are meant to be soft. Most of the people ask me to oversharp my pictures,so I thought I had a problem with my LCD monitor, but then realized that for some reasons they like to see sharp and crisp in the wrong place!
It's with much pleasure that I'm adding you to my friends'list....I feel I have very much to learn from you. Greetings, your friend Antonella

hi,
without going into any (western) historical or cultural interpretation because of the rather hamiltonesque atmosphere (i'm probably thinking more of his work published in La Danse here), i must say that this is a very nice portrait indeed.. although i'm not 100% convinced that it conveys innocence.. but that's certainly your choice..

Mark: Calixte here. Thanks for your comments and interest in my photos. To tell you the truth those photo were the first roll that I processed on my own.I bought an old 1971 Yashica mat 124 G on E-bay, took some pictures in the yard using natural light and then processed them in my sauna and at the kitchen sink. I agree with you, they lack the contrast and depth that I would like to see-hopefully I will improve.
I really like this photo 'Innocence' especially your use of lighting to create a softness in the photo.

Hi Chief! So nice to hear from you (from Beatle haircut). Most of the time I enjoy just hearing from people and less so about the photograph, or whatever the photograph reminds them or what they can associate from it. Your brother (and maybe you) and I have seen some weird stuff and some pretty radical changes being at the tail end of the baby boomer generation. For the most part, we don't feel lost between the old and the new. We're quite adaptable and more flexible in many respects compared to the generation before us. Just going with the flow, you know. // About this photograph; the composition (the cropping) is beautiful. It can't be done any better. Her face and skin is like the paper, or rather, the canvas itself. I like the wall being dark like that to outline the face so that you don't get lost in an all-white high-key image. The range of tones is pretty complete, from 0 to X, and the plane of focus strictly on her eyelashes and face. Beautiful detail and a very subtle sepia tone. Hakan's right, it's a masterpiece.
