I am a street photographer also, and I like the surrounding buildings. I would like to see this photo with a little more light, and either in sepia,or selenium. Very nice work. Dwayne Perryman

Composition, subject, and lighting create an old-fashioned style of photography. Nice image! I like the extreme contrast in your light, a particular favorite aspect of mine in photos. Regards, Beth

Great perspective. Beautiful composition with very well balanced backlighting. Great how you've captured the woman in the image, she is there, but not to overwhelming and leaves enough room to see the other wonderful details in this image. Excellent work David....Best regards Harry

Do the shadow areas have detail on the negative? You may need to increase your exposure and adjust your development accordingly to get detail into those dark areas.

A touch of Atget, combined with the haunting flavor of John Thomson's street imagery of the 1870s and 1880s, well except for the dress the woman is wearing of course. :) I think you managed the exposure problems here very well. Its quite a fine image if you ask me.

A wonderful mood you have captured in this David. The song 'Feeling Groovy ' comes to mind, I love to stride down streets so that song was often in my head as I strolled along. I see this in her purposeful walk. Love your composition, and you did very well on the lighting..
Thank you so much for your extremely kind words on my photo, I appreciate them so much. I feel like framing them next to it! ;) I'm actually going to get a nice size print made of this one, possibly on watercolour paper.

Katia, I don't think it has anything to do with the person there. She's more a part of the surroundings; an anonymous presence. What I'm seeing is light funneling through an urban canyon much like what I've seen in places like Death Valley or Bidwell Park's (in Chico, California) basalt canyons. To me it looks like a quiet place, a sanctuary from the more hectic parts of a big city. The distant buildings look like they're from the old Victorian era, while the foreground looks modern. The balance between light and dark is just right.

The light conditions were very difficult and I think that you got the maximum, unless using a flash, but it was not the case that you disturbed the lady! The atmosphere of the place is incredible, I like the contrast between the severity of the buildings and the woman's merry look, btw her presence gives another meaning to the photo. The image is a bit tilted, not a great fault, only it would have been perfect. Bye Max

I suppose it is really difficult with so a contrast, and it is a shame that the face is so dark, really a shame...
