About A marina in Knoxville. From reading a lot lately on "How to" photography, I realize that the boats should not be in the middle of this picture. However, I had to crop a lot of this image in order to make the file below 300kb. The original has about another 1/3 of water at the bottom of the image. Anyway, thanks for looking.

It is a very beautiful image. The reflections are great. Knoxville, and all of eastern TN is a beautiful area.. Greetings from west TN.

Nice rich shot Paul. The so many boats makes a great shape with the reflection. Good shot. Happy new year to you and your family! Peace at world!

Roger,
Thank you very much for the tips on the file size. What used to take me 10-15 minutes will now take 10-15 seconds. Thanks again.

looks good Paul...1/3 2/3 thing is okay but i reckon you do how you think it should be what looks good to you...it is easy toget your file under 300K just flip it 72 or 96 dpi then take the biggest pixel reading and bring it down to 640 and then you have the right size for usefilm. If you have PS just save for web and adjust to about 70-80% all my pics are about 120kb..anyhow this is nice shot and thanks for your comments...roger

Caprice, Thank you.
Rob M, Thanks for the advice. I am new and trying to learn so I really appreciate your input. I had also thought about cropping more and showing fewer boats as well, and perhaps should have done that. Anyway, thanks again.

Actually, the cropping is OK. The masts of the boats fall to the bottom of the image. The sky is about the top 1/3 of the image, so I think that is OK also. The challenge is to find something to focus the eye on. (My problem too). One suggestion - crop more and focus on fewer boats.

DO NOT crop to reduce size! Crop the image to what YOU like, then use an Image Resize tool to get to the 640 pixel limit. If the size is still over 300kb, I sometimes go up a tiny bit in .jpg compression, and that always gets me under 300k. (PS El 2 - Image>Resize>Image Size / Save As>Image Options)
