Hi Peta; I seem to have missed this shot-- holiday rush?. I love it-- the exposure and details and subject are exceptional. Re composition-- I suppose one small nit-- it would be nice to have Kevin just a little to the right as the reddish building corner clashes just a bit with him-- but I still say "Beautiful Work"!

Peta,
I wanted to reply to something you said - my in-laws bought my digital and I am so glad. Our finances aren't the easiest right now and I am an obssesive photographer. I am so glad to be rid of the constraints (monetarily) of film!!

Once again, thanks for including the original. I love how this shot turned from an overcast, cool scene to something warm and engaging. The final product looks very Parisian! I really enjoy the subtlety of your work. It's dynamic, but not in a "hit-you-over-the-head" kind of way . . . more in an inviting way. I likes it. :)
One (small) thing: while I like the background and don't find it cluttered, I feel the subject is at the edge of getting lost in it . . . particularly his head! I don't know what your intentions were in regards to the subject's relation with the background, but perhaps if the photo had been taken two or three steps earlier (and/or if the subject had been walking a bit more to the right), there would be just a bit more separation between the two.
Fantastic work, as always!

Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments & New Year wishes. :) Hugs!
I like your thought on the 'Don't Walk' sign Marilia! I toned it trying to isolate the sign so it stood out more. :)
John, no problem, Brooke was the lookout for the police, and it was early Sunday evening in the historic downtown McKinney, so basically pretty empty. We even talked another couple into doing a 'Beatles crossing Abbey Road' shot.:)
Max, your observation got me to thinking about his shadow...and like Peter Pan...where was it? So I attached the original, a very faint shadow can be seen. It was around sunset when this was taken. As my norm I have all kinds of 'versions' of this. Grainy, b&w, total sepia...etc! :) I get to the point of not knowing which one to submit!

At first, I like the people who shatter the rules, they often show us new possibilities, Kevin is very nice for this; I like the dark atmosphere created by the low light and the colors, there are no shadows and and this gives a particular look to the Kevin?s walking. Bye Max
PS: thanks Peta, Happy 2004 to you and to your pretty models too!!!!

Happy New Year, Peta!! Love this. I go crazy over these high-contrast shots......so much small detail, like an etching. This one's nice and dark, and rich. We get smacked hard for jaywalking in Seattle.

Dont walk, the sign says. But Kavin is walking without hesitate. Yes, Peta, sometimes we do have to cross the lines in order to face the future. First street shot from you that I see. Outstanding one, with your name signed all over it. Your tones, your poetry, my friend. Be happy. Be very happy in 2004. Hugs and love, Marília
