This is a real beauty Steve. I can't keep my eyes of those beautiful shaped lines. When I saw the thumbnail I first thought this was a kind of christmascard, but I was wrong. I love those blue shadows and great composition.

I can't really explain the blue tint. The image is a bit underexposed, and I suppose KR makes shadows a bit blue.... The brighter images which I shot at the same time are too bright for my likes, but the shadows still have a blue tint. I don't think it's a reflection of the sky.
Also, I can't remember if this was shot in morning or evening, but it's within a half hour of either sunrise or sunset. I spent a few days camping there, and only photographed during the early morning or evening; the rest of the day it's far too bright, and not very attractive to film.

I like this a lot! I've been wanting to go to White Sands, and this makes the desire stronger. I, too, would like to know the source of the blue tint. The long shadows indicate it was made late afternoon or early morning, when I would expect the light to be warmer. It's a nice effect, though.

Great pattern and composition. Is the blue from reflecting the sky?
