About I really like the green moss on the branches and the hanging mossy stuff, but I'm not sure about the composition. I tried cropping some off the right side, but decided it looked like it needed the width. Is the color and texture enough, or does the shot need more focus?

Hi Donna, you've got a great capture here. Beautiful moss on the branch and carpet-like grass. At first I thought it would be nice to only have the mossy trunk, with whitty moss(?) on the back ground, crop it and make it as if it is a panoramic view. But then I saw the entire picture and it all come out great. So IMHO, the picture is good. About the focus, naah, the picture is great!

I agree with you that the width makes it work. I think something to draw interest at the end of the path (on the right side) would be nice but that may just be me. I read that you are taking photography class? What do they teach in it?

I also love mossy trees but haven't had much luck getting one with great perspective. This one is well isolated from the background (a big problem with this subject matter)and the focus seems fine to me. Keep up yhe great work.
best

Hi Donna; this is a very nice, pastoral scenic-- a pleasant setting, but I can see what you mean by lack of focus (subject?). Actually, I see another picture in this one, eg crop out the bottom 1/3 and shift the focus specifically to the moss covered limb, which BTW is beautiful. If you've got some other shots of this, it would be more dynamic to have that big limb coming into the frame as more of a diagonal. That said, I still think this is a "nice" pleasant scenic and I rated it well. Cheers. Craig

Extremely cool tree. Composition wise I think how you framed it is good, but I'm not too enthralled with the tiny bit of sky that is present in the upper right. I don't know how, but I would have tried to frame this slightly different so that there was a balance between the tree and the grass less the sky. I like the concept of the tree canopy being the ceiling to your image. I don't think the sky is necessary in the image, but at the same time it doesn't hurt it too badly either. The mossy tree is an exceptional subject. The lighting and saturation of green is great.

This is an interesting composition and certainly well captured. As an alternative, I'd like to see perhaps part of the trunk of the tree bordering the left side. Well done as is though.

Love the shot, Donna. Slightly burning the lower corners would add a little more depth. Nice one. Love the moss on the tree trunk. Lou

Verdant greens and moss add to this textural shot. I like your composition and angle of view. One small thing will make this even better - clone out the white object in the lower left in front of the fence. My eye gets stuck there. Cheers - Bill
