The reason its such a bad shot is that it was taken by a soccer player!
Hw went on to play for Australia and I went on to play for my local weekend football team :)

I dont have the original neg anymore as it was taken when I worked at the Institute of Sport and was then thrown out by my old boss after I left..... sob!!!
If you look at the bottom middle there is a reflection of the flash in the photo... How lazy am I :)

Maybe he plays soccer.....but you musta been "younger" back when your memory was sharp!! Scanning does take some practice I tried with a few and they did ok but if the picture has flaws on it then the scan comes out even worse I think. But I know nothing really trust me..lol Great to pull out old memories they are much sharper than the pictures often times..LOL

One of the funny things I remember about photographing Pele was that he was sceptical about me taking some shots with the light behind him at one stage and asked me if it was going to turn out ok!
I was going to suggest some soccer pointers to him but thought better of it :)

It was a pretty special moment, I actually got to spend the day with him as official photographer when he visited OZ for the u/17 world soccer championship back in 1993.
I actually still carry a copy of this in my wallet... hahahaha thats probably why my ex left me, cause I didnt carry one of her :)
