I created the "glow effect" by first using the Magnetic Lasso Tool and carefully went around the subject (in this case the Iris). Next click on SELECT then INVERSE (on the tool bar). Next click on FILTER>GLASSIAN BLUR. Then SELECT>DELSELECT. This now has blurred the background. Zoom in using the "Navigator" and select the CLONING STAMP and clone the blurred area up close to the flower's edges. I used a brush size of 9 first then used a brush size of 35 and blurred the edge of the flower.

Nice effect. Very bright colors.

I did something similar with a blue damsel fly that I haven't decided whether or not to post yet.

Looks like you used a high color saturation an a soft focus with haloing....

Brilliant macro and love the 'glow' what did you use, very effective, I wonderd if you used 'dissolve' in painting, but doesn't really look like aht
