About Well, this is really the type of photography I enjoy most. Just me, my camera(s) and nature. This was taken some time this past winter on a nice crisp late afternoon in the Smoky Mountains. I think the actual exposure time was 8 seconds.

I love these kind of shots. They are very hard to get a unique one, so when you get a great shot it's extra satisfying.

Love this as well. Kind of surreal with beautiful 'ice' color.

This is a very nice photo...it has a very spooky sort of feel with all the smoke! amazingly crisp with the 8 sec exposure. i think b/w would be nice but i like it with a hint of color as well...well done! Kessia

You should check out the book, "Adobe Photoshop Master Class" by John Paul Caponigro.

He has some really brilliant chapters on how to take images from color to black and white in ways that are more powerful than merely hitting the greyscale option in Photoshop.

I've been studying the book this summer while my job is quiet and he's given me a lot to think about.

Ah, John, we must think alike. I have a b/w version on the old hard drive as well. Thought I would put the original out there first to see if anyone mentioned the b/w conversion, and here you are right off the bat. Thanks for the comment.

That is one hell of a view you had there. I love the perspective and framing, but I think this one might be even better as a black and white or maybe a mellow monotone?
