Great shot of this dragonfly. The shadows of the wings adds great dimension to this photo. I don't know if you could change your metering without changing the detail of the dragonfly, but really the background is not that important in this photo. At least in my opinion.

Ryan - firstly welcome to Usefilm. This shot is incredible. My only comment is that I would have liked a little more DOF to show more of his(?) left wing but this doesn't detract from a fantastic shot. My compliments.

Even though the background is very bright, I think you got perfect details of the dragonfly. I love it, including the shade of the wings.
