Pat is right Rex, PS is not that daunting when you get into it. For making montages like this I use the extract tool for cutting out. With "Smart Highlight" switched on you can get some really intricate cut outs. Well if you decide to take the plunge and fire up your copy of PS, there are alot of folks here on UF that are more than happy to help.
It's really not that big of a monster. you just hafe to take it in small peices.

Hello Pat...no unfortunately i dont use PhotoShop..im using Mocrosoft digital imaging Pro 9..i have the softwear for Photoshop but frankly it scares me a little...it just seems so damned complicated...and im still quite a novice at all this..thank you so much for ALL your comments on my pics..they are truly valued...take care...and i wish you and yours a very happy holidays...Rex

Rex, Are you ising PhotoShop? If so use feathering when when outlining you subject. You'll have to play with the setting to find the right amount of feathering. then, instead of cutting or copying use the marqee tool to mask or protect your subject. erase what you don't want, Now copy the subject to a new layer over your background. Now use "multiply" to blend in you subject.
My apologize if you allready know this technique. If not, Have fun...
