Abutment, fog, creek, rays; it's all good to me. My eye is actually drawn away fronm the foregound to the misty woods beyond. The mist coming off the creek is nice as well. I love it.

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Hi Dennis,
I was following your discussion with Dave on the cropping of this photo. This sort of thing comes up all the time. Sometimes you have a great shot and then something stands out that throws everything off in your mind. Sometimes there is just nothing you can do. The beautiful sun rays shining through on the old cement abutment is the photo :)

Real nice photo, like it a lot. Mystical and a bit 70 colors if i am not mistaken. There's water flowing, a thing wich i prefer in nature most my hiking trials go next to water as small as they maybe.

Regards
Karel

You know, after three or four versions I came to the same result as you. :)
Thank you, Dave.

hermosa bosque, la luz tamizada le da un toque mágico, pero a la vez macabro.

After looking again, the creek does display some of the continuing rays of the sun... maybe crop it like such? You'll still need to leave the abutment in but it takes out the exposed pipe and the foreground in front of the creek.

There might be other cropping choices, I just don't have time today to throughly explore them.

I don't mean to be critical, just a thought.

Thank you, Dave. I've tried to follow your advices, and, you know, may be, you're right.

Some very nice light in this foggy picture. The trees themselves, in the fog with the sunrays shining through, make a great subject. I may have been tempted to crop out all of the creek, though, because of the unimpressive abutment. If not, maybe crop out the abutment and leave the rest of the creek.

Best,
Dave
