Since I've somehow failed to comment on this amazing, award-winning photo, allow me to do so now:
The textures themselves speak of an eye experienced in searching out the different and the weathered. It wasn't until reading your About that I realized you'd hand-tinted the jar; it was not evident until you explained it to me.
Best of all is your choice of blue jar with sepia toned. It rocks.
Quick- post another awesome shot today, and I'll promise to critique it before Sept '07. ;)
Good work, girl.

Among my favorites of your work!Congrats on winning a "Staff Award" for this wonderful work of your imagistic style.
The rough, hewn, sepia toned wood of the window mantle in contrast to the semi-translucense of the blue bottle, filled with plants in repose, reinforce the poetic title of this piece.
Recollection in a bottle of blues, hewn for you, recalls, or reflects, this love of life.As the pastoral poet of England, John Clare said: "Where flowers are, God is".Herein, a poem of his that says more than I of what your work, and this piece specifically, recalls for me:
All nature has a feeling All nature has a feeling: woods, fields, brooks Are life eternal: and in silence they Speak happiness beyond the reach of books; There's nothing mortal in them; their decay Is the green life of change; to pass away And come again in blooms revivified. Its birth was heaven, eternal it its stay, And with the sun and moon shall still abide Beneath their day and night and heaven wide.
John Clare Bright Moments!

This is my all time favorite of yours. Haunting memories of that handful of flowers brought in with a smile, and the memories of sharing with someone also. This is so melancholy, so nostalgic. I can't tell you how much this one does to me. Excellent work, Gayle.

Gayle this is lovely, I like the diagonal lines, I like the soft sepia tones, I like the subject. The whole composition is really great. The PS work is excellent, the soft blue really brings out the 'glass' THis is obviously 'special' to you, and certainly is an image that is very evocative, and the title is perfect - thsnks for sharing this very special shot. (one meteorological information. from ten minuteren from me it snows here).. have a good day roby

This picture triggers something in the manner a familiar scent does. It really does speak of memories. Your treatment gives it a quality I'd compare to a vintage English tablecloth. Nice work.

This is a totally delightful, peaceful picture. What an excellent vantage point - it really works beautifully - and it's so soft. I love the sepia tones that set off the blue jar with the dried flowers in it. Everything's right about this picture. (It's so relaxing, it makes me want to take a nap... ;-D ) A++++++
