if you want, i can write up a brief 'tutorial' of how i do bw conversion. I have made a PS action, hot keyed, makes it real quick. Anyways, i'm going out to shoot my neighbours. See yah.

Back when I did this shot I was doing it a very uneducated way. Can't even remember how. I'm doing it another way now but have been told there's an even better way. I'll have to try yours and see what it does for me. Thanks for the tip! Angela

this is really cute. great composition, capturing a memorable moment. Although i don't care for the BW conversion, it looks kind of flat to me. Did you just desaturate it? If you did, you can add a bit of depth to the image by using 'selective colour' in PS then tweaking the blacks, greys and whites. My favoured bw conversion involves copying the reb/green/blue channels seperately, then masking the layers and painting in the parts from each colour spectrum that i like. (thats how i did the BW on the cowgirl photo.)

That is a teeny little guy.
Just took a look at the brightness and contrast - this is an easy correction in PS or on a free program called Picasa 2, free from google.
This is a well documented approach - the newborn on the arm - really a touching image.
Stand close to a window for some natural warmth in the lighting - looks like you got a bit of hard shadows from a flash.
Overall wonderful shot and congratulations.

Thanks Kelly. We had a drought like that too. My 10 year old was the last one until just this past August with the birth of my neice...and then this little guy came right along behind her! Angela
