About The former Hotel Alcazar, built in 1887 in the Spanish Renaissance style. Railroad magnate Henry M. Flagler commissioned architects Carrere and Hastings to design the Alcazar and the Ponce de Leon Hotel (across the street). The two young architects later designed the New York Public Library and the U.S. Senate office building. After years of accommodating vacationing wealthy patrons, the elegant resort hotel closed.
Chicago publisher, Otto C. Lightner, purchased the building to house his extensive collection of Victoriana in 1946 and opened the museum two years later. He gave the museum to the city of St. Augustine. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

These hotels were so beautiful. I was so amazed at flagler college.. We stayed in a bed and breakfast just behind this building. It was such an amazing place. Thanks for telling me about your photos as well. K

Another interesting picture and about, with the glow from the lights it brings out the detail more, a good time to get it. I notice Lea mentioned the converging verticals also - hope you don't mind I have done a bit of a straighten, and brightened a bit to see if it brought out more detail Lovely composition

Really lovely night shot - I'd never have guessed it would be lit this way. Lovely symmetry as well. Good work!

I'm really enjoying your St Augestine photos and history lessons, Kamran.
You caught this building at the best time of day...bright enough to get details, but dark enough to capture the building lights.
I do think that straightening the converging verticals in this would improve it somewhat. But, perhaps you like the effect!
