Fabulous picture. Dead leaves are part of a mushroom's food, I like the more natural effect with them in there!

Hi Jim, I will post the web address, but, as you know, it may take a while to be visible, since all web addresses seem to be vetted.

Lea, just read your cirtique of Ian's mushroom shot and I think the advice you gave him is dead on. Would like to know if your friend who shoots mushrooms has a site that I could go to and check out some of his work. I have shot some 'shrooms myself and would like to see some of his photo's.
Thanks,
Jim Gamble

Hi Ian. I cannot agree with Lea, The dead leaves are a reminder of the season and are a natural part of the picture, though I would try and remove the highlight on the left.

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Ian, just checked your portfolio...some nice stuff in there!
Since this great looking mushroom grows in your yard and you may have other opportunities to shoot it...here's what I would suggest for next time: 1. remove the destracting dead leaves. 2. get down lower (lay on the ground) and 3. set your focus on the closest edge, using whatever aperature is needed to get the entire 'shroom in focus. 4. try shooting it when the sky is overcast to eleminate any glare (or use a polarizer).
I have a friend who shoots spectacular mushroom shots and that's the technique he uses.

...e come mai hai pubblicato questa in cui è visibilmente errato il punto di messa a fuoco? credo che se il soggetto principale era il fungo a fuoco devrebbe essere il primo piano del fungo e non il resto!
