In this case is almost impossible to have more details in highlights because, i.e. shines on the threads, it felt lot above the zone X.
This was a very difficult shot because of very low contrast backgrounds (various brownn tints and paints) and on the other hand a very contrasty object with shines and shades.
So i choose a underexposing and overdelepoing to raise more general contrast. And the lock was in dark chamber espoed with different c. grade... Also slightly toned... A lot of work!
it is not perfect and I know but is my best in this challenge!! Thanks for suggestion in exposure, i will try again.
I like simple detail shots such as this one. You have picked an interesting subject full of possibilities. Nice work.
I won't ask you about your processing and toning techniques because I was never any good in the wet darkroom.
Just one thing: to me some of the highlights are a bit overexposed. I'd like to see detail on the threads for example. I think this has more to do with the original exposure than any processing.
