About	The Purple loosestrife, "Lythrum salicaria L", a beautiful flower which was imported by settlers, I think, from Asia. It invades the water ways and kills the competing vegetation. It has no enemy in the US. Beautiful and merciless... This lonely flower sprouted at a pond near my home. The morning light emphasizes its seemingly fragile beauty. A big thank you to Mark Mahar for providing the name of the flower.

I knew this was yours as soon as I saw the thumbnail. It's a great photo of a delicate , yet unbelievably hardy pest. It's called:
Purple loosestrife, "Lythrum salicaria L".
