About Revisited this image to clean it up for more accurate representation of the scene. My original was rather flat as it was posted in a rush of excitement to share it with friends.

Backround: This was taken very early on in my morning journey into White Sands National Monument. This dramatic cloud cover was the remnant of a passing monsoon that blanketed this area with an unusual amount of water for this time of year. Early morning sun was breaking through the clouds highlighting random portions of the landscape. I was pleasantly surprised by this image with it's unique lighting and it has slowly grown on me as one of my favorites.

Thanks for your time and comments. If you're interested in seeing more of my work I welcome you to visit my web site http://www.jmg-galleries.com

I can see why this has grown to be one of your favorites. It didn't even have to grow on me...added to my favorites, thanks

Well your equipment may be different, but your eye remains the key to your beautiful images...this is simply stunning...an excellent composition with beautiful color and light, it is the contrast between the more granular foreground and the smooth midground that makes this work so well...your work is impressive Jim...must see what else of yours I have missed...

I like the simplicity in the picture; two main colors. But it is truly an excellent picture.
