About A second attempt at Infrared. I shot this in Raw format with manual white balance setting and only auto contrast adjustment in PS. Suggestions appreciated.

How did you get the colors?Did you leave the camera on the color setting or did you shoot the photo in the b&w setting and add color in PS? When I use the IR Filter I usually get a magenta like tone to the photos........Thanks..Rick

I can tell you how to do it in Photoshop CS2 (I hope that's what your using!).
The biggest thing that affects the results is the white balance - when you process the RAW file, you can use the eyedropper tool (top left third in - looks like a pipette), to select what you want to be neutral in colour - if you like the frost look, select something that was green like the grass or trees. If you want to emphasize a really great sky, I click on a cloud (but the the greenery comes out more yellowy).
Open up your photo, go to the 'image' menu and select 'adjustments' and then 'channel mixer'. The box pops up showing the red channel - where the slider for red is at 100% and the blue and green sliders show 0%.
Move the red slider to 0% and the blue slider to 100%, then click on the 'output channel' box and select 'blue'. Now move the blue slider to 0% and the red slider to 100% and click OK - that's it!
Just to finish off, go back to the image menu, select adjustments and then select 'auto colour' and then 'auto levels'.
If you do it a lot, you can create an 'action' that will do it all for you at the touch of a button.
If you do have PS CS2 - I could email you a copy of the one I made.
Hope it works well for you.
Sally

Wow, thanks! That's what I'm after, more blues and whites, like frost or snow. I'm not real familiar with PS. When you say swap channels is this done in the channel mixer and if so how. I know this is a naive question but you have the secret to what I've been trying to do. Please help with those details on the procedure. Thanks, patrick

Have you ever tried swapping the red and blue channels over in photoshop? I've had a go - so you can see what I mean (hope you don't mind).
This is a super second attempt.
Have you seen fellow Usefilmer Bobby Munn's IR photos - they are really inspirational!
