Dear Susie, THIS is an endearing shot! That little girl is the epitome of "little girl"! Absolutely magnificent in her velvet dress. If she is somebody you know, you should absolutely give her this shot as a memento of childhood!
It has a fantastic impact on the viewer, maybe because you've also used the sepia tonality, it makes it warmer, more emotional.

I sometime used channel mixer, but rarely move the contant, because the effect appears so fast and hard in either way.

I desaturate with hue/saturation and then go to channel mixer and bump the constant to about +3. Then apply a warm photo filter and then add a little black and neutrals through the selective color. Sometimes it comes out the way I like it, and sometimes not! :) I think we all know THAT feeling! Thanks for your comment Claude.
