Ann, To me this is a superb shot. Exposure is perfect. I've been working on that too. I like the way it's composed with the waterfall off to the side, the thirds rule shown perfectly. Thanks for your comment on my halloween photo. Marilyn

Lovely Ann, the touch of yellow at the top of the fall is very nice. Your exposure looks good. Well framed by the trees. Don.

Beautiful view Ann, and a perfect composition too, love that we can see the details in the greenery, often times when you see a falls shot they are taken from too far away and the details are dulled, but you have wonderful sharp details that make this so much more enjoyable. Wonderful ribbon like effect of the water, I just love slow shutter effects on water. A nice triangle of interest between the falls and the diagonal of yellow, top left, bottom right...nice shot with that lens, was it overcast? The light is diffuse and even...great work Ann...Linda

Ann, It looks to me that you winning the Battle. I Love the Exposure of this waterfall very much. The silky water gives me a mystical feeling. I don't mind it being one the left hand side either. My eyes View this photo from the bottom right with the beautiful yellow leafs up through the shot over and down to the Waterfall itself. Well done...Well done Indeed!
best Regards
Sam III

Ann -- Another terrific shot. I've heard it said that there are three factors in creating a noteworthy photograph (listed in order of significance): 1) the human element - the photographer's vision and ability; 2) timing, circumstance, or opportunity; and 3) equipment used. In my opinion, this capture reflects good execution on all points.
Image is well composed. Nice use of the rule of thirds. The Falls originating in the top left third and terminating in the lower left third. The Falls itself delineates the left third of the frame, while the yellowing foliage in the lower right creates the visual distinction of the right third of the image. As to point #2, the yellowing foliage adds tremendously to the impact of this image. The same framing one month earlier, although it still may be a beautiful capture, would lack the visual impact of this image due to the yellowing foliage.
I have only one thought as to controlling the highlight in the upper left and managing a longer shutter speed on the Falls. You may be able to use a graduated neutral density filter, held horizontally across the frame, with the density dampening the left edge of the image and covering the Falls, fading to no density by the time it crosses mid-frame. I'm still working to perfect the use of such filters but, conceptually, I think this should work. You are building a credible portfolio. Keep posting!

Dear Ann, that waterfall is like threads of silk, so lusciuos, so silvery. I like the accent given by the patch of yellow overhead ballanced by an other patch on the right side, everything enveloped in a sea of green. Very beautiful composition! Gabriela

Thank you Kathy for your comments and encouragement. I've been working at waterfalls for years as I just love them. Now that I'm in an area where there are lots around I'm getting more opportunities to practice and I'm enjoying it very much.
Thanks Ina for your comments on my images.
Cheers all - Ann :)

You certainly are getting better at waterfalls Ann! This is a really nice shot. Great shutter speed to get that cool look to the water, and I don't see any problem with exposure at all, so you did good! Kathy

Cary I've been moving around for over 20 years. I can't slow down now or I might fall down, got to sleep and not get up again. :) I've had my slow times in the desert when pickins' for photos got a bit slim at times due to isolation. I keep at it though. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers - Ann :)
