Ina, I know the place, I've been there, I did hear the lute but I've never seen the gost lady. Now I know that I was wrong assuming that it was the wind piping its own song on the bridge arches. Thanks for correcting me. n.j
P.S. The mannered elegance is what I would call it.

Thanks John for your comment! I tried twice to post the story of this house - but the comment didn't go through. It is the lightkeeper's house built in 1857 - there is an abandoned stone lighthouse next to it, Burlington Piers, Hamilton Harbour. The lighthouse was even then thought to be haunted by ghosts!

The brick house belonged to the light keeper of the old stone lighthouse (not seen in this picture - there is a picture of more of the house & highway bridge in this thread).
"In April 1846, George Thompson came aboard as the new lighthouse keeper.
The light keeper spent several months living in a shanty until a new brick keeper?s dwelling was built in 1857. After a few delays, the new main lighthouse was completed on October 18, 1858, by John Brown, a prominent lighthouse contractor.
After serving the lighthouse for 29 years, Thompson retired because of poor health. He died in 1879.
Ghosts have been known to haunt many lighthouses, and this lighthouse is no exception. Thompson had often noted sounds of voices and unusual noises emerging from within the stone tower. Other light keepers who took over this position had also made mention of the echoing sound of footsteps and mysterious lights shining from within the narrow windows when making their daily rounds of the pier.
Deemed no longer necessary, the Burlington Bay Main Lighthouse was deactivated in 1961 and currently sits abandoned along with the light keeper?s red brick house, situated several yards away. Unfortunately, both buildings are showing signs of deterioration."

You couldn't have pulled this off except for the asymmetrical window. Very nice balance .......I like it.
ps....... that and the lack of fascia have me curious....... maybe it's more modern then it looks ... with the bricks to the peak it could 20th century............ probably rebuilt from old masonry and that's what throws me

Thanks Neal! Not only the house is crooked, but the windows are at odd heights, too (:-) Love your interpretation! I have so many pictures that don't seem interesting by themselves, but now that I've discovered layers in Photoshop, I can add anything to make them a bit more interesting! Oh and I thought I was going nuts. I couldn't find your face in there anywhere then I re-read your "about" 3 times before I realised it wasn't a photo of you but YOUR photo of the house. (duh) LOL
This one has a yesteryear meets today feel about it with the vintage style woman being outside the house and standing straight when the image of the house is on a slant. I like this. It's very creative. You always come up with very interesting and artistic ideas. Good job Ina. I wonder what you'll come up with next. Always a surprise. :)
