About Dedicated to my UF friend Gabriela Tanaka, who loves nature. Again, this is a vintage photo layered in Photoshop over a pond I photographed in Alaska. I think the pond resembles a pre-Raphaelite landscape. I have exaggerated the line contrasts to make my image look like a painting.

I see I've been away from Usefilm far too long. You have done a lot of wonderful work. I love the work you've done here in Photoshop. Another masterpiece.

Very fine, Ina. You did a beautiful job integrating the monochrome beauty into the pondtangle of saturated color and line. Her pose, balancing with her arms (was she dancing?) is perfect for the background, a natural for someone stepping into a pond. Very creative and effective use of PS. A fave.

Hi Mark, I've just started using layers. I found myself lacking human subjects in my pictures, so I started including vintage photos. Some are my old family pictures, others - like the woman and the girls are vintage postcards - "borrowed" images. I use my own pictures as backdrops, and I have a number of vintage images that I like to re-use in different settings. The woman with the tiny waist seems to be very versatile, I've used her more than once - no idea who she was. The PS layers are very simple: cut, paste and a lot of erasing. Thanks for asking, Regards, Ina

I'm so lazy with layers. What I do is clone like crazy, or cut and paste. Is the lady someone you knew? This series reminds me of what I've been reading and hearing about with quantum physics; that it all occurs all at once, with countless possibilities and nothing ever ceases to exist.

By the way, this goes to my favorites, Ina. Is that really you? -- I keep on being amazed by the technique of this pic. How have you achieved the reflection in the water while layering? Best, Gyuri

Hi Ina, I had some internet problems so I can catch up with your new pics only now. I think your series "Memories" (or "Shadows from the Past" -- have you already chosen a general title?) is extremely fruitful and very inspirative. On this one the intricate web of branches adds a significant, additional layer of meaning to the already rich impressions of the vintage ballerina and the somewhat suffocating autumnal woods. The reflexion in the water is a sheer visual beauty. Congratulations, it is a definite 7+: Gyuri

This is neat looking. I really like how the branches seem to be the bottom part of her dress, This is bended in wonderfully. The shadow in the water is excellently done as well. Great tones. Looks like it took you a while to get this great effect. Well worth the time I'd say.

Thank you John, I found this landscape in my collection of "what can I do with this picture" and it already looked the part, it was just a matter of fitting in a nymph :)

I see Maxfield Parrish in this too ...... maybe because of the pond and reflection, and my sensitivity to his work. I think it's the strongest of the group [so far] because the figure and background are so well integrated ..... and the palettes. Interesting and well done, Ina.

Thanks Ann, for your comments and great encouragement! I took this shot somewhere along the road in Alaska, and I loved the twigs. I liked the linear quality of the plant stems, and dotty leaves - so it had already that "painting" look to it. Cheers, Ina

Goodness Ina you've excelled yourself with this image. It does look like a painting indeed. What an amazing and creative idea. The branches growing on the woman are masterfully done. Her pose is wonderful for the mood and the frelection has just the right amount of light and colour. This one is my favourite in this series. The composition of this couldn't have been better if she had been there to pose for you. Wonderful job and a lovely and thoughtful dedication to Gabriela. Cheers - Ann

Great work, Ina! I like how she is "caught" by branches/twigs and kind of has to struggle to get into the water. Excellent reflection, too ... very well done! *hugs*
