  Q. Recommend a lens for an eos 500 please

Hello Hippies,
My first digital camera was adorable: small, didnt make any click noize and the viewer/screen could be opened at an angle. I was going to school back then (early 90s, Faculty, cose I aint a kid) and could easily take photos of the passengers sitting across me on the ride. Back then people didn’t know much about digital cameras (Holland at least). So no one was posing or turning away.
That’s why I liked going from analog to digital. More reasons came later, with photoshop.

I like taking nature pictures, cityscapes but mostly people as they are, no posing. Doing their work or crossing the street. I heard a guy has got a camera implant in his eyeball. I know what I want for Xmas!

I have a Finepix s7000, bought it 5 years ago. Does a good job. Im on a budget.
Then I bought a canon camcorder, hf 100. Very good quality and I can take good pictures without attracting too much the attention of the subject. I just bought a canon hf s100 (Im a video head) and this one takes even better photos. But with the last of the money I plan to buy the new EOS 500. It gives much better quality, though everyone will notice Im holding a photo camera…
So my question is: on a budget, which lens, one lens, should I buy? Don’t want to interchange. I love close-ups and it’s good to be able to zoom shoot, where people don’t notice u.
What are the experts recommending?
Thanks
