  Q. It's all in the equipment don't you know.
Phillip Cohen
Asked by Phillip Cohen   Donor  (K=10561) on 9/21/2001
An amateur photographer was invited to dinner
with friends and took along a few pictures to
show the hostess. She looked at the photos
and commented "These are very good! You must
have a good camera."

He didn't make any comment, but, as he was
leaving to go home he said "That was a really
delicious meal! You must have some very good pots."

Why do you even care whether others care about equipment? Just let those equipment hounds go on their way buying lenses and bodies. Who cares? It's no skin off your back, let them be.

The whole purist attitude is kind of retarded. People tend to question things when they are told not to do something; if there is no apparent reason for not doing it, then they will question the advice - if the advice has any merit, then they will find out on their own and realize that "hey, maybe equipment is not so important," or maybe they will realize the opposite and say "damn, that L lens really would have helped this shot, there's lots of color fringing with my 5-500mm zoom."

It's also funny that the same people who claim equipment is not important advise people to not get cheap stuff.

Pots are very important in cooking a good meal. I for one use a full set of expensive french made stuff...and of course cutlery from Henkels. People tell me I make some of the best hotdogs they've ever had.

Bill as anyone with a lick of sense knows, you just cannot cook a good hotdog in the wrong kind of pot. I am glad to see you have a lick of sense. ;=]
