  Q. Demise of AGFA Film

Asked by Chuck Freeman    (K=13616) on 3/15/2005
Well, here it goes again-another one is "apparently bitting the Dust." According to a professional Publication RANGEFINDER in a recent isuue it was announced that Agfa was getting out of Film Business. Can anyone add to that or any other Film news-good or bad?

Folks , do you believe that FILM could all but go out of sight and out of reach? See lovely girl photographed on Agfa Film. She lived from 1966-1986

VERY nice girl

AGfA is not getting out just changing companies from what I heard. It's call AGFAPhoto now.

And I heard somebody is making inquiries into buying Ilford. No confirmation on that. Maybe there IS hope!!!!

 Chuck Freeman   (K=13616) - Comment Date 3/18/2005
Good to hear that.. I do not use a lot of Agfa, but still use it some.

 Chuck Freeman   (K=13616) - Comment Date 3/22/2005

I heard that ilford emploies bought out managment to try to save the company. I hope they did cause i use alot of ilford film.

 Dai Hunter   (K=2028) - Comment Date 3/26/2005
AIUI (the old) "Ilford" conventional photo products division will become known, under new ownership, as "Ilford Photo"

Some of the lines may contract but the new company will continue in silver based stock manufacture.

At the moment Ilford film is almost impossible to get. Store here is running out quickly and not getting supplies, as of today they only have 4 rolls of Ilford left in stock...

 Chuck Freeman   (K=13616) - Comment Date 3/26/2005
I think ILFORD is super for B&W

 Chuck Freeman   (K=13616) - Comment Date 3/26/2005
If you can check out B&H In NYC or ADORAMA.

I've heard heard that a few times, now, but I've yet to have ANY problems at all with getting Ilford film, anywhere.

Dai, no need to try and try again when a post with a URL doesn't appear.
All such posts have to be approved by moderators to prevent people spamming their own sites (or other sites we don't want linked like sites offering pirated software or other illegal stuff).

These days, with the changing policies of making film, it would hard to predict what would be the next move.
