  Q. Film vs Digital: The Final Word
Jon O
Asked by Jon O'Brien    (K=11321) on 9/9/2005

Thieves broke into my car the other night and made off with my camera bag. I found it under a hedge, three houses down, dumped there, presumably, when they discovered it was a film camera...

I'm not sure if I should be pleased or insulted :-]

I would think you'd be pleased in finding your camera equipment. I guess you are just questioning whether you really like the found equipment or not. Anyway, I'm happy for you!

Well.. I'm pleased that I got my (fairly expensive, in its day) stuff back, but also insulted that the little buggers who took it in the first place though so little of its value that they dumped it under the first bush they could find!

It could be worse...what if they had stolen your photo album, only to dump IT in a nearby bush???

Now THAT would be insulting!

Every once in a while I'll be shooting in a location and think "Should I really be carrying $2,500 worth of camera equipment around here?" There's something to be said for having an all manual Pentax K-1000 for certain situations.

I still use a couple of K-1000's for that very purpose. If one grows legs and wonders off financially it won't hurt to bad, although it would be like loosing a friend. I wonder what we'll say about film in another 10 years? patrick.

Youi should be very happy.. I have been shooting 33 years. I love Film camera-take along a Minolta stsi: Total Price is $149.95.
I have taken 100's opf slides and prints. Remember it is the photographer and lens. I would never take a expensive camera in public these days-especially street shooting.
Film Cameras are very Cheap and of good quality.
( I do own a couple of $$$$ Cameras-outdated.

I would think you would be very happy in finding your camera.
But it seems to me you are in very BIG doubts!!
