Q. RZ67 Vertical operation problems

I just got a used RZ that seems to be in excellent condition. the other day i was out shooting to get a feel for it and had a problem with operation in vertical mode. i switched to R, rotated the back, switched back to normal, advanced the film and where the advance lever usually stops, the film stopped advancing but the lever kept moving freely. the shutter also would not fire. this didn't happen in landscape orientation (the lever stops where it should with the film advancing and the shutter can be fired) this problem happened whether i advanced the film before or after rotating the back.

If i need to have it repaired somewhere, any ideas on whether it's the back or the body?

any ideas on maybe something i'm doing wrong?

I guess it is the roll film back. Sounds like the coupling mechanism is broken, which is not too uncommon. Mamiya will repair it for $100-150.
But of course, I might be wrong. Try to check the RFB at a different body and the body with a different RFB at a shop where you can rent RZs.

lucky enough.. after extensive cleaning (even though it appeared clean.. i thought i'd give it a shot), things seem to be working fine with it now.

I have no complaints since i didn't want to pay to repair!
