  Q. BW Friendly Coastal Spots on the Eastern Seaboard

Asked by E A    (K=727) on 12/25/2002
I've been asked to come up with 10 16x20 or larger black and white prints of coastal scenes on the eastern seaboard. I live in VA and have an apartment in Boston to work out of and am hoping to stay between NC and Maine. I've only got a short time to work, meaning scouting time is at a premium - does anyone have any locations they'd recommend investigating? I'm looking to include man/nature combinations (Coney Isl. type stuff) as well as more traditional landscapes.
thanks~

We were recently at the John Forsythe Wildlife Perserve (brigantine division) on the east coast of NJ. There's an interesting site off the main drag there, with the back bay wildlife in the foreground with a back drop of the skyline of the atlantic city casinos. The casinos are a pretty good distance away, but a dusk shot might make an interesting and unique man/nature shot.
Chincoteague VA is beautiful, and makes for some lovely sunrise/set shots... have both ocean and tidal water there.. if you go, stay on the island.. there's really not much in that area except on the island and it gives you easy access to the park.
If you need more info, let me know. Good luck!

Cape Cod is a great place. There are tons of small cool little towns. I live near Boston and often take day trips there. Beware of tourists in the summer, but the winter is so cold.

I might suggest Wildwood NJ, or any other place with amusement parks and sand. I've shot lots of b/w pictures with the lifeguard chair at dawn with amusement rides in back of it. http://www.pbase.com/lroberg
