Steve - I am not an expert but I have been going past Sedona more lately but not having a chance to stop for photography. There can be snow but no guarantees. It has been snowing in Flagstaff which is close (but higher and colder) but the last few days have hit highs of 6oF so snow has been going fast. Relax and enjoy whatever Sedona has to offer. Water? Late october the creek was rather dry. certainly not a river by eastern US standards. unless you are good at adding foregrounds a modest telephoto of say 100 mm would be my choice. I will be in Flagstaff around 12/16. If I can get to Sedona and report I will if that helps but you may be enroute by then. There is more to Sedona than Cathedral Rock. - JB

Hey:
In general, desert rivers will be dry during the wintertime. Right now that may be false given the amount of weird weather. Let me know if this assumption was true on your trip.

Michael, Sedona was an EXPERIENCE! It was beautiful there with alot more than I'd expected. Cathedral Rock was one of the MANY SPOTS!!! The conditions were not too dry due to the wet weather lately.

Michael - This particular "river", actually called Oak Creek, never dries up. It is fed throughout its length from many sources, including springs.
