Hi Kurt, I'm an ex-Adelaidean (or crow-eater as we're known in Australia)now living in the UK. I know South Australia pretty well so here's what I'd suggest. Flinders Ranges: small towns of Melrose and Wilmington, landscape around Wilpena Pound. Kangaroo Island: Just about anywhere on the southern coast, but especially Remarkable Rocks and Flinders Chase National Park for wildlife and scenery Barossa Valley and Clare Valley for vineyards and old architecture. Seppeltsfield in the Barossa is especially beautiful - loads of palm trees and great old buildings There's a small town just off the Adelaide-Broken Hill highway called Terowie that's a bit like an old wild west ghost town - its pretty photogenic Coober Pedy for really weird desert landcapes The Mount Lofty Ranges around Adelaide are pretty photogenic Be aware, Kurt that the distances are huge compared to Europe - the state of South Australia is similar in size to France. Also, temperatures in inland and especially northern regions of the state can reach 40-45 deg Dec -March and all the rivers except the Murray and those in Adelaide are dry in summer. Most of the state is semi-desert or desert and can be beautiful to see but dangerous if you're off main roads and not prepared - I'm sure your friends will be aware of this. Finally, the light is great for photography, clear and intense. Enjoy. Regards, Gary.
