Cortney:
You can look up national parks on www.nps.gov - I'd say Arizona is a great place with wonderful sunsets this time of year.
Saguaro National Park, Grand Canyon, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Canyon de Chelly National Monument...
So many, basically you can start the drive on Friday night if you work and head back on a Sunday.
The other option is to download google earth and poke around a bit with an Eye in the Sky.

Go to the national park service web site and look up the national parks and monuments, there are a bunch in Arizona.
If you are looking for more local spots, you can use Google Earth to locate nearby interesting features, but you need broadband.

Geee.. you're from Arizona, right? and you're asking for tips on outdoors there? Oh cooome on! :) Saguaro National Forest, Great Canyon, Nearby New Mexico pueblo sites, vastness on the north along Utah border (Navajoland), old hispanic urban places in the south, Monument Valley, North Rim, ..you're in the most beautiful state I visited in the States :) go for it!

A place that is serene, especially this time of year, and almost ghostly - Chaco Canyon in northwestern New Mexico. Impressive ancient ruins and beautiful scenery. Be prepared - it's miles from nowhere, and there are almost no facilities. A campground and bathrooms is about it, but it is run by the Park Service.

Cortney, may I suggest a quick trip to your local library for a glance at back issues of Arizona Highways! The magazine never fails to impress me with images from places within Arizona that I did not know about. As to personal recommendations, Sunset Crater Park just NE from Flagstaff, Sedona's back roads, Oak Creek Canyon and lots of places along the Mogolion (SP?) Rim. Cheers JB

My son and I enjoy hitting the streets of Superior, Globe and Miami. The architecture, hills, shadows and degrees of emptiness of the streets add a mystical quality to a photo.

Lost Dutchman State Park... that's where my poppies and bluebells photo was taken. Beautiful place and awesome at sunset.
