  Q. Working Freelance

Asked by Ben Rasmussen    (K=2130) on 5/5/2003
What are the best ways to get photographs out there for potential buyers as a freelance photographer? Any suggestions or experiences that you have had?

Ben,

Get a copy of the book "Photographers Market Place".

Obtain a copy of "The Photographer's Market". It is a book with all the addresses of hundreds of publications. It also contains some great tips on what art directors or large photography studios are looking for. Each source listed will normally have a small write up on what they want you to submit, ie. how many sample prints, slide, print, or digital, and where to mail them.

A membership in the Professional Photographer's of America (PPA) wouldn't hurt. You can find photographer who are always looking for assistants, backup photographers, etc.
