Tools for building a site are free on the net, html is/should be relatively browser and os agnostic.

Charisse, you should be able to use your mac with ANY web host. Web pages are nothing but html which is nothing but text which means you can make webpages with your mac's textedit program or even stickies if you wanted to. The only tool you really need is an ftp (file transfer protocol) program to help you move these files from your computer to the webhost.
Now, some people don't like to use stickies to make webpages...in fact some don't even want to deal with html at all so they get a program that lets them design their pages using a graphical interface. There are many of these available for the mac. A lot of people seem to like dreamweaver. HTML is not difficult, however. I would suggest picking up a basic html book and go from there. if you decide later to use a program like dreamweaver the html knowledge will still be very helpful.
If you still want something very mac-centric you could get a .MAC account from apple. As I understand it, you can host websites and do all sorts of other neat stuff and it is all integrated with the OS.

Here is the message I get when I try to use Homestead.
One moment, please! You are using a computer that does not support Homestead. If you would like to take advantage of the Homestead's flexibility, power, and ease-of-use, please return to www.homestead.com with a Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, or NT computer.

try prohosting.com, free250.com. Very good hosts that offer free space. Also, if you want alot more versatility in creating your web pages, I would try out coolpage at coolpage.com It has a mac version I believe and has a powerful drag and drop engine, which makes creating web sites super easy, btu also has html capabilties so if you wish you can do custom code as you learn. Coolpage is free as well, with a few proversions reasonably priced.
Hope this helps.

their webbased sitebuilders may not support your browser, but you can almost always upload using any old ftp program you may have (you can get a lot of those on the web, probably for mac as well).

http://www.technolojik.net seems to be a bit on the cheap side. All that unlimited stuff for $1.66 a month, pretty amazing. And I thought all the .bombs went out of business last year. Guess there is always a hanger on here and there. ;=]
Bahadir I would make sure that you have copies of your website so you dont have to re-create it once they go tits up.
