  Q. Commenting
Dave Arnold
Asked by Dave Arnold    (K=55680) on 4/11/2004
I consider the most important thing on usefilm are the comments one gets after submitting to their portfolio. My photos are at an average of about 4.5 per photo right now. I think some are rather good and deserve better than that, especially considering there are dozens of views of them yet few comments.

And I look at other portfolios and notice they get dozens of comments. I realize that they are the result of friends commenting, etc. but I have seen some people who answer every comment with a comment of their own, thereby "doubling" the number of comments for their photo.

First, is it right to place your own comment (replying to posted comments)? Is there no way to set the system up to where comments from yourself don't count toward a number of comments?

Before the new changes, there was a notice "please don't spam your own photos". I took this to mean not to post your comments on your own photos. I noticed others thought it to mean not to advertise your portfolio when leaving comments for others.

Any thoughts?

Dave
