EBAY - Buyer beware - Donor Only Forum

Altaf - if the following does not belong here or if you feel this posting is inappropriate then I apologise and please remove at once.
I had been bidding on Ebay for a used Canon EOS 10D. The price was good and a name and an address was provided for pickup but they suggested either credit card or Paypal beforehand to reserve ... alarm bells started to ring. The address I managed to locate on the internet together with a telephone number. I telephoned and even got through to the name of the person I had been dealing with ..... who knew nothing about a camera. The poor lady had been having problems with Ebay and thought she had reset her password - only it seems to be annexed by a person in San Jose CA. So please be very wary of Ebay purchases especially those requested deposits or payment in full via credit card, Western Union (who doesn't offer payment protection) or via Paypal.
This matter is now in the hands of the Fraud Squad at a British police station.
It could have transpired a lot lot worse !!

Again I apologise if this is in the wrong place but if I save just one person on here the heartache from a bad transaction it may be worth it !!
