About: Getting back into doing more photography after having too little time for it when working.
Technical challenge: Getting comfortable with all of the automation that cameras now have. My eyesight is too bad to use a manual focusing SLR any longer and two of my main subject interests (macro and birds) are not well served by my old Leica. I feel a loss of control, especially over depth of field. Nevertheless, I'm strongly committed to Nikon SLR's and Nikkor lenses.
Strong opinion that digital cameras are not yet up to what I want and there is already enough fussing when trying to take a photo. Shooting 400 ISO Portra VC and scanning it in a Nikon Coolscan V ED gives me what I'm looking for. Photoshop CS appears to be able to do almost anything!
Artistic challenge: I want some formal training. I hear I have a decent "eye," but I want to engage the brain a bit too!
