Tom - Thanks. I have made some effort to keep it broad and diverse, flitting here and there as whim suggests.

Thought provoking. You have a very interesting portfolio.

James,
If you use the flash in broad daylight you'll be sitting on the ground like an idiot with yoyr flash, altough that's the way to do it off course!
No more stolen picture then.
Another manner is to lighten the girl without altering the background. Perfectly possible in PS.
And curious about your futur facial experiment.

Grtz,

Alain

Thanks, Alain.

Dark, eh? I guess if I were to shoot something like this again I could use a slow-sync flash to fill her front. It wouldn't hit the building and her back is well lit by the sun.

Oh, I found a "mask" shot I took in the woods a while back. Now I'm looking for a face to combine it with.

James,
not a bad picture at all. A bit dark yes! Cropping doesn't affect the picture and your "model" has fotogenic roundings ;)
Grtz,

Alain

Thanks, Khaled. I prefer pictures of people that are natural, that is to say not staged. Not that one could not set up the shot, but that the shot should not appear set up.

Very nice candid shot James, I like these types of people photos ;0)

Marija - I made sure not to damage the distant girl in my crop. I too thought she had something to add.

I hadn't thought about the contrast between the subject's youth and the building's antiquity.

Thanks.

Nice moment, James. I can't help notocing another girl walking on the opposite side of the street although it was probably accidental - but it does add a dynamic composition. I like the details on the girl that 'identifie' her as a memeber of the youth, and it contrasts nicely with the building in the bg.
Lots of energy here.

Gary - Literally shot from the hip.

I turned my head to see her approach and pushed the button (mine will keep shooting as long as I'm holding it) and kept it down until she had passed, turning the camera to (hopefully) get something like what I had in mind. I didn't waist time by bringing the camera up; I just turned the lens toward the subject and tried to guess the framing as best I could.

The top of the image you see is the top of this shot. The remainder of my crop was done to balance that tight lid.

I too wouldn't worry about the lack of light/too tight a crop on her face. I assumed it's a spur of the moment shot, anyway. You must have been lying on the ground when you took this, were you bowled over by her beauty?
Regards, Gary

Andrea - Thank you. Your people shots are great. This was stolen. She was shot in passing. But what I tried to get, and I think this shot (and crop) brings out, is that sense of purpose in her stride and her presence on the scene.

I really like the motion, the angle and the cropping. I don't care about more light on her face - it looks like a kind of stolen moment and for that it's great.

Rashed - More light on her face? Ok. Thanks for your critique.
