Dear C. Smith, imo, By leaving the pier out of focus I tried to lead the eye towards the kid, this also increases the dramatic mode. I shoot it with film and it was 400 asa so it contributes the grain. Actually, the kid is not lit with the sun at the point where he sits, the sun hits the pier, the model is left out of the sun, out of the pier and the sunset. Sometimes, we feel so small, so alone in our "world", we forget to admire the beauty surrounding us, like the sunset.
Ozgur, I like the idea of this image, IMHO the title does not work, sadness yes, but sunset?. The pier at the upper right corner being so out of focus distracts from the young man sitting on the wharf. There seems to be quite a bit of digital noise in the background and on the young man's leg. I do not know what was to the left, but moving to the left could possibly eliminate the bright wharf area, but maybe that is the sunset portion of your image. These are only my opinions and through the eyes of an amateur photograher. You have some good images in your portfolio. Just my thoughts.
