Hi Graham! Have a look at this:

Now relax, have a few beer!

Ha-ha! I love it! Great to see you haven't lost that wonderful sense of humour and built-in dictionary of the arcane. I miss such banter tremendously.
Who cares if the water slides off the page - it'll pool somewhere else :)

Years ago, a group of us would get together and each toss a picture into the kitty. We'd crack a few beers, pick a picture at random and discuss it all night. Of course, only ONE person knew they did NOT take the picture. After a while, we could all guess who DID take it as we grew accustomed to their 'style'. Weird, huh?
I've been told not to write any kidnap letters as my writing is very distinctive (well, I am a writer, after all).
Critiquing your own work is like scratching your left elbow with your left hand.

I'll not dispute the appearance, Graham! But the picture is straight, despite the angle in the shoreline, IMO. I was well aware of the appearance of the image and I am also aware of what the scene looks like to the eye. It was a conscious choice to leave it alone. That's another one of these things that can be debated. It is interesting, that I have gotten quite used to it, as is, that now I find your revision quite odd!

I will post another one, which is sure to give you conniptions! The fog bank and gravel bar makes you thoroughly confused as to image angle. But, it is straight! Cheers!

We-ell, this is so much sophistry. My point is thsat water should not slide off the image (unless it's a waterfall, of course).
The dynamics? Consider the plane of the view and angle of the camera to that plane. Then consider the chord of the circle of the front element of the lens.
If you think it is straight, that's OK, which is what counts.
However, I asked three people last night if they saw ANYTHING "odd" about this image. All three said it tilts down on the right. Perhaps there's an ocular affliction in this area :)
It's just a topic I have taught over the years and helped students to master.

Graham, thanks for trying, but to me it now looks akilder the other way, with the nearer bank at the right appearing to receede! Tell me how I am not straight if my camera is absolutely level? I agree that sometimes there is optical illusion. This does happen with river banks which are not parallel to the camera axis. Hope you haven't lost sleep over my humble image! :)

Dear Eb - see attached image. I straightened the image as I mentioned. See what you think. Remember, straight in the camera is not straight in nature! Common error. You're welcome to examine the trigonometry involved. If you can, place the two images side-by-side in PS. It's an optical pollution. I rest my case - mine is straight. Betcha dolla!

Graham, the shot is absolutely level! Your eyes are dealing with a river bank which is somewhat at angle to the camera, as is the gravel bar. With river shots, one can not always count on the horizon line! I level my shots at camera - always. When I look through the viewfinder, I often lose my sense of equilibrium, especially at wider angles, so I am happy to do this and save myself trouble latter.

Quite stunning!
How wonderful that you live in the Garden of Eden. Does anywhere on earth have landscapes quite like Canada?

Tilt the left side down 10 pixels in Photoshop and re-crop it. Or are my ancient photo eyes just primed for these things? :)

Would never have imagined that a multiple exposure could have caused such a wonderful effect. Very neat looking. I like it. Just want to soak the whole picture in. Nice work Eb!!!
