What I mean to say was. My camera only uses the battery for the exposure meter not to open/close the shutter. It a fully manual camera even focusing is manual. The one I am using now is the Nikon FM2N on a tripod, doing startrails shot.
I am wondering,? How long can you open the shutter, before the battery runs dead in you camera (Nikon D70)?

Thks Shawn for comments. I did use a tripod here and i think that is where the secret lies.Tripod, tripod, tripod for that extra sharpness. About camera batteries...on my Nikon D70s I done a pageant shoot and I took +/- 900 shots WITH FLASH and my battery was still 3/4 full. It only died on me the next afternoon.I myself was surprised. Regards Hilton.

Wow, Hilton!!
Your Images Are Great. Love the detail and sharpness. I like all your photography!!
As I write this I am taking a Very long exposure of the stars, I started at 11:40 PM and I will end the exposure at maybe 3am-4am? I have set it at f/4.0 on Bulb, with Fuji Reala ISO 100. I hope it comes out ok. Glad I don't have a camera that eats battery. lol.

Thanks Rashed and Shirley for the comments. Yes shirley, while others still lay sleeping, I'm out early in the morning capturing shots like these, and yes, Parys has many golden photographic opportunities.
