Hi Jeanette, I'm sure if you'd go today you'd find an amazing inspiration. NY is different every time. I have lots of film negatives taken with my Minolta, and I don't even want to think of scanning. I guess if it was something of importance I might look into it, but for street shots, I see things differently now, so I prefer the newer photos, and they're all digital :) Best regards, Ina

Hello Hugo, thanks for your comment! This scene is shot across from Bryant Park (Bryant Park is behind the New York Public Library in midtown Manhattan, between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues). I don't know the name of the curved building, but I can probably find out. This is around sunset, probably because it so happened :) me being there among other places that day. I've never really gone on a specific photoshoot in NYC, just because I think NYC is close enough to get there anytime I want - about 8 hrs by car. Best regards, Ina

Hi Ina,
I've walked passed this scene (73rd, if I remember correctly, just south of CP), wondering how I could shoot the concrete building with the "skirt". I failed miserably. Yet, I missed your approach, using the three types of architecture as a single shot triptych, the futuristic glass face, the concrete slabs and the older, more classic type of architecture I always pictured the Fountain head to pursue. Very strong approach....
My only nitpick is that I think the time of day isn't the strongest; it renders the face of "my" fountain head building a bit dark.
Thanks for sharing, this is one of those moments i wish I could fly out and retake the shot I wanted to grab.... Very good stuff!
Cheers,
Hugo

Fantastic shot Ina! The textural and geometric contrasts are very grabbing! Nice colors, and the shot creates a high level of interest. The telephoto effect appears stronger than it really is, given that you used the 18-55mm. In any even, I like that look very much in this shot. Excellent! Reminds me of a shot I have in the same vane from last fall. Perhaps I'll dig it out and post, you're an inspration!

Well captured & seen! Nice to see your other style image. That's a very different as your using style. So, love the well detailed aslope lines on the new building, great contrast against the old one. The image's three main part very different. The reflected, the tilting lines and old surface are very strong contrast. Great photograph with full of geometrical elements & formations. Great mixture in one, lovely work. Thanks for share us dear Ina. A very great job!!! 7+++
My best wishes! Robert

Ina, I love this great geometry play of lines, tones and reflections. All is so perfect here Ina. My eyes goes from right to left through the scene and it's only because right site it's easier to start with and accomodate the sight on but then a big surprise and a poetry of the smooth merger of rough lines of garage like forms with the fine and complex structures and reflection of the most forefront glass building. It's a steep change and pretty challenging for my mind to recept but at the end its a pleasant feel of the ride - the geometry rollercoaster ride. Cool. BR, n.j

Hi Susie and thanks for your comment! Of course I know Clifton's work, and love it! His reflections are taken in NYC - I've been watching him since I've been on UF. I don't see his latest, maybe he's just edited his portfolio. I like to delete some of mine too from time to time, maybe that's what he's done?

Leave it to you Ina! You found such a cool photo here on this street. Did you ever visit Clifton Jones' portfolio when he was on UseFilm? This reminds me of some of his work. Very pretty...I love the comparison of the old weathered building and the shiny new one. Susie

Thank you Gabriela for your lovely comment, I wish I had better weather and more time when I visited NYC - that time it rained and most of my pictures came out grey. Only one afternoon was good for lighting, and that's when I could see these reflections.

This is a great abstract, dearest Ina! A wonderful and surprising collection of lines, shapes and reflections in one and the same shot! One tends to think it a well done collage of three images, because of the unusual angle appearing in the middle, but the fact that it is only one image makes it very special.Good capture! Gabriela

Hi Ina...this is an unusual vision. There are all sorts of lines with the building in the middle appearing to be on an unusual angle. I love the mirrored shine in the far left building showing even more buildings in its reflection. It's like a labarynth of buildings. Great shot, strong lighting and very cool contrasts Ina. Yep...it has squares all over it. :)
Cheers - Ann :)
