This was out of a sequence of about 6 shots.
I got close to centering the monument in the grass, but it's tricky when you're doing 130mph.

Ahem (If I may borrow from MST3K) "It's a long par 5 to the nation's capitol." In hushed tone of course.

Great shot of a city I used to really like a lot once upon a time. It's been decades since I flew out of National but I CAN"T BELIEVE after 9/11 they can still fly this close to such major important buildings and monuments. Oh well, the Brainiacs at Homeland Security are in charge, not for me to judge, what do I know.....A no hassle, quick departure for Politicians, Lobbyists, and such wins over anything else. BTW, I believe that the DC layout was modeled after Paris if I recall properly...just a minor FYI kinda thing. Very good work on the photography side Paul, Mark

No, I was flying the starboard side of a Super-80 behind the wing. Fortunately, it was a relatively clean window, but it's still pretty blurred.

Always enjoy an aerial shot even if it is a commercial flight. A great shot here Paul. Excellent clarity. You obviously found that "sweet" spot in the plane window to shoot this through or were you flying the plane? :) Super details in all the buildings. Lovely rich colours. Very nice shot indeed.

Thanks also for dropping by my Sunset Icicles shot. Always enjoy your visits.

Cheers - Ann :)

Actually, Don, this was shot in December, on climb-out from Reagan National airport, so commercial airliners still get this close, just not pre-approved civilian aviation.

I didn't think you could get this close in a plane any more. You about is great but it doesn't seem to be happening at this stage of the game. Nice perspective. Don.

Paul, great shot of the National Mall. Great deal of details in the picture zoom shoot from a plane. Like the one with a citation. Cheers, n.j
