Oh, I could tell you a story of how I kept shooting out of dedication to my art, even as my fingers, one at a time, became frozen and useless. Or I could tell you the truth, which is that it was no colder than about 30 F (or -1 C). Yosemite Valley, at around 4000 feet, is usually too mild to have that much snow.
The hard part was really the thick icy crust on top of the snow, which I broke through with each step, making the going slow.
Andrew and Vincent, you disagree about the shoot in the foreground, but I think it's needed to interrupt the sameness and to look lonely.
Nice image Ken. This really feels cold! Personally, I think I would clone out the foreground sprout...sort of distracts my eye away from a very beautiful scene. (8
Man, was it as cold as I think it was when you took this shot? I hope your eye didn't freeze to the camera. This is a very nice landscape. You caught great detail in the snow and I love the icy mist that seems to be hovering in the woods. Nice use also of that little shoot in the foreground. Excellent work.
