Congratulations on your selection, Chris. The photo is truly beautiful. As it is, the composition, palette, and clarity are all terrific. One crop you might consider as a variation is to lose most of the photo to the right of the boats. Very well done! Steve

Thnaks for any comments, they're always appreciated. This was shot from a 20 ft. inflatable boat...you can see I'm at 28mm, so I wasn't really too far from these boats.
This was cropped from a 2:3 ratio photo. See www.usefilm.com/image/928029.html for the full crop on another very similiar shot of these two boats.
Thanks, Chris

Lovely light, colours and composition. Excellent use of the panorama format and the new panorama pixel limits. I can almost feel the swell, smell the salt air, and hear the wind in the sails and the water under the keel. Wonderful atmosphere. One for my favourites!

The light here is magical, really love the rich colors too. The whole image is full of life and energy, yet very calming.
It must have been very bright...1/1600, sharp as a tack! You can tell the winds are strong too. This is an image I would have totally blown, I'd have emphasized the vertical, and missed the pano view, which is a much better choice.
I'm guessing you shot this from shore.

PoD - wonderful.
Crisp, good clouds, mirrored subjects, precise, tight framing and a nice off center composition.
Good shot to demonstrate rule of thirds, water on horizonal, sails on vertical, subjects on the intersection with the negative space to the side where the subjects are moving.

Chris, this is an amazing photograph. If I had this it would be above my sofa in the living room in it's full panoramic glory. Being a sailor myself I get totally lost looking at this image. I can stare at it over and over again dreaming about being on one of those boats in the Americas Cup race. If you have any others in that series, please post some more.

Hi Chris, Love this shot of close racing. Superb level of details, again... Again, it's the translucency of the genua, showing the crew is a superb eyecatcher... Impressive shot!
Cheers,

To be honest, I am not a fan of sailboats. Looking at this image, I am one now. Very stunning capture. The composition is beautiful, and the depth you're holding in the sails is just perfect. The sails look so organic, almost liek a think skin, or old bone. Love it! This should be a cover photograph on a book. Well done!
cheers, -Joel
