This has an amazing range of tone, Greg, and is more like a film print than digital - reminds me of an Ansel Adams. He used an 8x10 camera to get all the "zones" of the BW spectrum.

Your silky image goes smoothly from the highlighted details of the driftwood in the foreground to the snow peaks in the background amidst the varied shades of the mountains, water and sky.

It is in my favorites to stay. So glad I saw it on the home page.

Excellent soft BW landscape. Good sharpness of first plan. In the background the miraculous view.

Hi Greg

Nice to see a B&W version of a scene like this. Nice tones. Makes a refreshing change from the coloured versions we are bombarded with down here.

Well done

Great B&W, Greg. It reminds me of some of the great Ansell Adams B&W landscapes. Very nice. Cheers, Ann.

Rarely do I mark an image as a favorite Greg and someone should have a long time ago in addition to receiving an award!

Beautiful shot, Greg. The crispness of the foreground and flatness of the background contribute to an otherworldly feel that's quite pleasing. Well done!

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Hi Greg, i think ive seen a lot of pictures from this lake, but everytime it gets more to perfection :-) Of course there all really wonderfull in there way, but i seem to like them more and more. This b&w has a lot of dramatic elements in it wich i really like. It looks like something catastophic is going to happen. Excellent job!

cheers, Lex.

I usually like scenery in colour. But, the B&W really suits this. I like how the whiter tips in the BG mirror the white of the beach in the FG.

Greg the blue tint isn't a result of the shooting mode. Sensor try to do interpret the captured data as best they can. The blue is a reflection (no pun intended) of your camera trying to interpret the data as best as it can. Your best bet is to color correct the original to remove the blue tint. I have a write up on how to do this on my web site if it is new to you. Whether your image is scanned or straight out of a digital camera it is always a good idea to color correct your work.

Hi Jim I think your right about the other image. Have removed it as I'm not that happy with it. Not sure why it and others I have taken have this blue tint. Could it be the shooting mode I use. Thanks for comments much appreciated.

Normally I'm a huge color photo fan, but I think this looks much stronger in B&W for some reason... at least between the two images you've posted tonight. I also like the foreground in this image more. I think this image is a little better balanced.
