Beautiful. I have this picture. My daughter was the subject. She was eight years old at the time; she is now twnety four. I have cherished this photo for all these years. When I made the photo, I thought I was the only person who saw the beauty.

i love the way her hair covers part of her face. she is so deep in thought that she does not care to brush it to the side. the mood is superb, and i think this fits perfectly to your goal of recording childhood memories.
do you have other pictures with a little narrower and wider view? i wonder how it looks with her feet in the picture, or with a closer look to her face, maybe from her elbow up. but i think this is the best of three options.

Thanks. The softness is from diffusion (via nylon stretched over the enlarger lens) during printing. This method allows me to adjust the softness / sharpness until I get the effect I want.

Cheryl, this is a striking photo. From the thumbnail, without the detail it still grabs your attention, then when you blow it up the details make the photo quite unique. The pose is great and there is an unusual quality in her posture,hair and general demeanor that I find different to other more typical portraits.She seems to be in deep thought.
